The New Order National Human Rights Organization (NONHRO) is a 501(c)(3) Georgia-based nonprofit dedicated to protecting, defending, and advancing human and civil rights for all people. Led by a diverse coalition of committed leaders, advocates, and community voices, NONHRO works collectively to uphold justice, accountability, and equality. Every member of the organization shares a unified mission: to create and sustain safe, fair, and inclusive communities nationwide.

NONHRO exists to:

  • Monitor and address unjust and discriminatory practices

  • Investigate misconduct and human rights violations

  • Advocate for policy reform and legislative change

  • Support the creation of independent citizen review boards

  • Empower and defend individuals whose rights have been violated

We stand as a voice for the people, committed to justice without regard to race, creed, color, or religion.

Founded on June 24, 1992, in Toledo, Ohio by Gerald Rose, NONHRO began as a Black unity initiative known as the Council of New Order. What started with just six members at a community rally inside the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library has grown into a nationwide human rights organization.

Inspired by the teachings and activism of his father, Reverend Floyd Rose, a respected minister and former NAACP president, Gerald Rose built NONHRO on the principles of truth, justice, and nonviolent action.

In 2000, the organization expanded to Atlanta, strengthening its presence in one of the nation’s most historically significant centers for civil rights. Since then, NONHRO has addressed high-profile cases and continues to serve communities across the United States.

NONHRO provides advocacy and support in cases involving:

  • Workplace discrimination and harassment

  • Racial profiling and civil rights violations

  • Inequities within school systems

  • Judicial and law enforcement misconduct

  • Inhumane or disproportionate treatment within the justice system

Through investigation, exposure, and advocacy, we work to prevent repeated injustices and bring resolution to those affected.

NONHRO is grounded in the principle that justice can and must be achieved without violence.

“One has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws… openly, lovingly, and with a willingness to accept the penalty.” We believe that peaceful resistance, truth, and accountability are the foundations of lasting change.

With chapters and representatives across the country, NONHRO continues to:

  • Handle multiple complaint cases monthly

  • Engage communities through outreach and education

  • Advocate at local, state, and national levels

  • Build pathways toward justice, healing, and reform

Our work reassures communities that they are not alone, there are people who care, who will stand with them, and who will fight for their rights with integrity and purpose.
